Over 22,000,000 feeding tubes are placed each year worldwide. Most of these feeding tubes are placed blindly which makes bedside placement dangerous in many cases. In fact, it is estimated that 3-5% of all feeding tubes placed blindly, at the bedside are mistakenly misplaced in the lungs resulting in pneumothorax, pneumonia or even death. For clinicians placing small bowel feeding tubes, blind placement can be inconsistent and time consuming, requiring multiple x-rays to achieve proper placement.

ENVIZION MEDICAL has developed the next generation of electromagnetic feeding tube placement devices. “The ENvue™ System”, has the potential to save time and improve patient safety compared to currently available technologies. ENvue utilizes multiple sensors and known anatomical landmarks to generate an image mapping each patient’s anatomy to their upper GI tract in order to trace the feeding tube accurately. ENvue will greatly enhance small bowel placements by providing vision at the bedside assuring accurate placement, quicker time to feeding and shortened ICU stays.
